Moti is simply the Hindi word for pearl, and this piece is simply pearls — a 22-inch strand of freshwater rice pearls, each one slightly oval, each with its own soft blush lustre that shifts between cream, rose and champagne as the strand moves. There is no pendant and no metalwork beyond the small gold-plated 925 silver lobster clasp; the pearls are the whole of it. The length falls just below the collarbone, so it sits as easily over a plain kurta as it does on bare skin with an evening neckline. At 16.50 g the strand has a satisfying, quiet weight.
